The Process, Simplified
- We begin by agreeing on a convenient start date for you, confirmed with a deposit.
- Next, you embark on the online theory training, featuring over 6 hours of comprehensive video tutorials and 3 assignments to solidify your understanding.
- The course includes four days of in-person training. Choose whether to include the equipment kit when booking; an included kit is yours to keep. If you select the option without a kit, bring your own setup. Consumables are supplied during training.
- Following the in-person training, your journey continues with an additional 10 hours of online videos and assignments.
- Upon completion, you’ll receive your well-earned certificates.
In a nutshell, it’s a balanced blend of self-paced online learning and hands-on in-person training, providing you with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in a convenient and effective manner.
Tattoo Training Course
Fine-line tattooing is now included. Learn tattoo design, equipment preparation and practical techniques through structured study and exercises.
Design software can help you explore layouts and prepare artwork, but drawing and tattoo design skills develop through practice. The course introduces tools and techniques you can revisit while building your portfolio and seeking feedback.
The course includes fine-line tattooing, blackwork, tribal and Māori-inspired design exercises, traditional tattooing, watercolour and colour realism. Linework, colour packing, shading, script and minimalist practice help you develop control across different designs. Review the New Zealand fine-line tattooing guide for a focused practice plan.
Study tattoo history, design, photography, pricing and studio preparation alongside hygiene, cross-contamination, bloodborne pathogen awareness and client-care topics. Complete the required exercises and use tutor feedback to identify what needs more practice.

Bloodborne pathogens (BBP) are pathogenic microorganisms that are present in human blood; these and other potentially infectious materials (OPIM) can cause disease.
BBP training and certificate is included with this course.
BBP training supports exposure-prevention learning. Confirm the requirements for your premises and procedures with the relevant local authority; course completion alone does not establish compliance.

Short-course attendance does not replace the experience developed through an apprenticeship or continued supervised practice.
